Program brief
The buyer wanted visible natural character and a story suitable for museum retail, but could not accept unpredictable color shifts between deliveries. Initial order volume was modest and future replenishment would depend on store-level sales.
Approach
- Defined walnut and rosewood tone boundaries with physical references
- Used one internal mechanism across two external wood options
- Replaced a foam insert with folded paper structure after transit review
- Reserved a repeatable engraving area clear of high-contrast grain
- Documented a replenishment specification independent of the first timber batch
Result
The first collection launched in four stores. Because mechanism, packaging structure and acceptance boundaries were documented separately, the buyer could reorder only the faster-selling wood option without rebuilding the entire range.
