Japan distributor rosewood limited series
A numbered 1,200-piece rosewood edition with tighter grain selection, individual writing checks and market-specific presentation cards.
Program brief
The distributor accepted natural variation but needed the shipment to feel intentionally curated. The writing feel also had to be finer and more controlled than the buyer's standard European assortment.
Material control
Rosewood blanks were grouped by tone before machining. We created an approved visual range that excluded extreme contrast, open defects and abrupt color transitions near the engraving area. Finished bodies were paired so cap and barrel appeared coherent without pretending the grain was identical.
Functional control
Each nib received an individual start-up and line-continuity check. Numbered presentation cards were reconciled against the approved serial file before final packing.
Result
All 1,200 pieces shipped as one controlled edition. The retained boundary samples now support discussion of a smaller replenishment series without redefining acceptable wood variation from scratch.
